How can the mistakes from the theory test be seen?
Theory test mistakes can be seen by requesting the Scheda Esame (exam sheet) on the Portale dell'Automobilista, from the day after the test. A Portale account or SPID login is needed. Where is the sheet with the mistakes requested?
On the Scheda esame patente service of the Portale dell'Automobilista. The Portale FAQ says the Scheda Esame shows any mistakes made. It covers the theory test taken as a computer quiz, for a first licence and for a licence revision (Portale FAQ).
What are the steps on the Portale?
The Portale FAQ describes four steps, given here without additions; the last is also confirmed by the Scheda esame patente service.

The service advises users to check their email address before requesting, because the sheet is sent there (Scheda esame patente service). The address can be checked under "Profilo", then "Modifica dati" (Portale FAQ).
From when, and for how long, can it be downloaded?
The request is possible from the day after the test (Scheda esame patente service). The PDF stays available for seven days from the processing date (Scheda esame patente service). The FAQ counts the seven days from the request date instead (Portale FAQ). It is safest to download and save the sheet as soon as it arrives.
Is the result visible without requesting the sheet?
Yes, the session result is made available to each registered or SPID candidate on the Portale (Foglio rosa e prove d'esame page). Exam sessions are public by law (article 121, paragraph 7, of the Codice della Strada). No official source consulted describes how each office shows mistakes in the exam room at the end of the test, so no procedure is given here: it may differ between offices.
What are the mistakes useful for after a fail?
They show what to revise before the second attempt. The application allows at most two theory attempts within six months of filing (article 122, paragraph 1, of the Codice della Strada). At least one month must pass between a failed test and the next one (article 121, paragraph 10). Topic by topic revision is on the category B quiz.
What happens if...?
If a candidate in Genoa fails the theory test on 10 March and tries to request the sheet that evening, the service does not issue it before 11 March (Scheda esame patente service). The second attempt cannot be booked before 10 April either, because at least one month must pass between a failed test and the next (article 121, paragraph 10, of the Codice della Strada).
A candidate in Lecce requests the sheet but her account holds an old email address. The PDF is sent to that address (Scheda esame patente service). She can still download it from "Lista richieste" within seven days (Portale FAQ), and correct the email under "Profilo" (Portale FAQ).
A candidate in Perugia opens "Lista richieste" ten days later. The download is gone, because it lasts seven days (Scheda esame patente service). The Portale pages consulted do not say whether the request can be repeated, so this should be asked of the Portale help desk listed on the site.
What do the official sources not say?
The pages consulted do not state how long after the test the sheet can still be requested. They do not say either whether the sheet shows the correct answer next to the one given. This page therefore claims neither. The test format, thirty statements in twenty minutes with at most three mistakes, is explained on the page about how many mistakes are allowed.
