Citing the figures: licence, wording and contact

Ready to quote sentences

Each sentence carries one figure, its scope, the year and the source. They may be quoted as they are, together with the citation line below, which also names the licence.

• In 2025 Italy recorded 919,868 category B theory tests, according to the Esiti Esami 2025 document of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
• In 2025, 60.27% of category B theory tests in Italy ended in a pass (source: MIT, Esiti Esami 2025).
• In 2025, 83.82% of category B practical driving tests in Italy ended in a pass, across 734,553 tests (source: MIT, Esiti Esami 2025, table ESAMI PATENTI A e B).
• The MIT statistics count exam tests sat, not people: anyone who resits is counted at every attempt.
• The MIT publishes results by Motorizzazione Civile office: in the 2025 data, 102 of 107 provinces have a row of their own.

What may be reused

The public statistics, including the province and region level processing, and the pages that describe the method. Reuse requires naming the producer of the data and stating the licence.

The perimeter matters as much as the figure: percentages quoted in the press often come from a different set of exams. The unit is the test sat, not the person: a candidate who resits is counted again, so the percentage says how many sittings end in a pass, not how many candidates pass first time.

Tables in open formats: exam data. They are this site's own processing, not an official document.

The licence

The underlying data is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Italy (CC BY 3.0 IT), as stated in the mit.gov.it legal notice, which requires attribution to the ministry and a note of any changes made.

Figures as such are facts and may be quoted freely; the licence covers reuse of the documents and tables. Even where a link is present, it is good practice to name the data producer in the text.

What may not be copied

The 432 original questions and their explanations, the text of the guides and the name of the site fall outside the data licence. Reusing them needs written agreement.

The ministerial question bank is not reproduced here: the questions on this site are written from the official exam themes and the Italian Highway Code.
