Practical test: the same map, a very different picture
The provincial gap on the practical test is nearly double the gap on the theory. Read it carefully: only candidates who already passed the theory sit it, so the national figure is 83.8% against 60.3% on the theory, and the two are not comparable as measures of difficulty.

How this map is built
Province outlines come from ISTAT administrative boundaries, simplified so the page stays light. It is a schematic for reading figures by area, not a survey map. Sardinia's internal borders are approximate: the source file predates the 2016 reorganisation, so Carbonia-Iglesias, Medio Campidano and Ogliastra are merged into Sud Sardegna, and Olbia-Tempio into Sassari.
The shading uses five equal bands across the observed range rather than a continuous scale. A continuous scale would imply a precision these figures do not have, especially in small provinces where a few dozen results move the percentage by points.

What does the map show?
The share of category B driving exams passed in each Italian province in 2025, on Ministero delle Infrastrutture e dei Trasporti (MIT) data. Darker provinces have a higher pass rate.
Why are some provinces grey?
Because the MIT reports by Motorizzazione provincial office, and there are 102 offices against 107 provinces. Monza e della Brianza, Prato, Fermo, Barletta-Andria-Trani and Sud Sardegna have no row of their own, so they stay unshaded. Nothing has been estimated.
Does the colour show how hard the exam is there?
No. The test is identical across Italy, drawn from one ministry archive and marked automatically. The colour shows how candidates in that area performed, not how strict the test is.

From the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport report Esiti Esami 2025, published under CC BY 3.0 IT. The same figures appear on each province page, with a link to the ministry source.
